How Caterfold works
Event catering succeeds or fails at the handoffs: sales to kitchen, recipe to price, event change to prep list. Caterfold holds each handoff in one operational record, so the next person works from the same facts.
Six handoffs, one record
Each row is a point where catering jobs usually break. The right-hand column is what Caterfold keeps connected at that point.
| Handoff | What usually goes wrong | What Caterfold connects |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiry to deliverable service | The price goes out before anyone checks the kitchen. | Service Gate checks the documented constraints and names the one that blocks. |
| Recipe to costed menu | Menu prices come from a spreadsheet that drifted from the recipes. | Menus are priced from recipes, yields and dated supplier prices in Costing Spine. |
| Menu to kitchen production | Prep lists are retyped from the function sheet. | Production quantities come from the confirmed menu and guest count. |
| Kitchen to service floor | Allergen information lives in a note the service team never sees. | Allergen Chain carries ingredient facts from recipe to served item. |
| Event change to operational decision | A changed guest count or venue reaches the kitchen by forwarded email. | Changes arrive as a review in the job, with the affected quantities, costs and checks. |
| Quotation to settlement | Nobody can explain why the job made less than quoted. | Quote and settlement come from one costing engine, with each variance attributed to a cause. |
What lives in a Caterfold workspace
The event and its functions. The venue and what your team knows about its kitchen. Recipes, sub-recipes and ingredients with their declared allergens. Supplier prices with the date they were valid. Kitchen resources and capacity. Crew and shifts. Quotations and settlements.
Each fact keeps its source and date. When two sources disagree, for example your own site visit and the venue's published pack, Caterfold keeps both and shows the conflict. Neither value is silently overwritten.

Caterfold is in development. A demo is a guided walkthrough with sample data, so it needs no guest lists or dietary information.
